Japanese Ultramaxes christened

23rd November 2014

A double namegiving took place at JMU's Kure site on 14th November 2014: Our two 60,500 tdw ECO Ultras MV "August Oldendorff" and MV "Alwine Oldendorff" were christened by Mrs. Rika Suzuki (wife of Asia Minerals head Hiro Suzuki) and Ms. Juleng Koh (member of the research team in our Singapore office). JMU currently offers the lowest consumption Ultramax design.

The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Deutsche Bank have agreed to extend finance for a 12 year term for both ships, while Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) are providing insurance for the portion co-financed Deutsche Bank.

The vessels feature a Diesel United "Wärtsilä" 6RT-flex 50D main engine, 4 x 30 tons electro-hydraulic cranes with 12 cbm "Orts" grabs, CO2 in holds, A-60 bulk head and increased tanktop strength. Delivery is expected for December 2014 / January 2015.
