Our Fleet department in Lübeck is looking for a Marine Operator who is the link between the ship, the technical, the operational and chartering functions within the company. In one of our business units teams the Marine Operator takes the part to coordinate the commercial and technical interests for the best of the business, looking at the bottom line.

Job description:

  • Full responsibility for the smooth operation of the assigned vessels, including monitoring performance and requisitions
  • Proactive preparation of ships and shipboard management for upcoming voyages
  • Acting as a consultant to the ship to avoid any hick ups
  • Planning and carrying out of inspections
  • Immediate handling and rectification of deficiencies or conditions imposed by external authorities or internal sources
  • Close co-operation with other departments within our Fleet department
  • Support to all other office departments in all nautical matters and towards requirements from clients
  • Plan, negotiate, co-ordinate and supervise necessary repairs by external parties
  • Liaison with Classification Societies, Flag State Administration and Regulatory bodies in order to ensure that vessels comply with their requirements
  • Responsibility of Loading Computer and program improvements
  • Hold cleaning equipment monitoring in close cooperation with Port Operations
  • Support the shipboard management to enhance good seamanship
  • Consultancy for clients upon request
  • Participation in training schemes for crew as appropriate
  • Support the ER-Team in case of general averages/ casualties/ salvages / groundings, take part in the ER team upon request
  • Training of the commercial apprentices 

Your profile:

  • Master Mariner ideally with operations or port operations experience or an Operator with sailing background, ideally as Master
  • Bulk experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Flexible team player with excellent communication skills
  • Good technical understanding
  • Ability to plan and assess projects from cradle to grave for time, resources and money
  • Good understanding of classification, flag state, as well as crewing, controlling and general management matters
  • Frequent travelling is not a problem for you
